Recover Stolen USDT, Stablecoins & Ethereum
Yes – stolen USDT and other stablecoins can sometimes be recovered, and they carry one advantage most crypto lacks. The issuer, Tether, can freeze USDT at a specific address when the evidence is strong. Ethereum and other tokens are traceable too. Speed decides most cases, and recovery is never guaranteed.
Most stolen funds we trace for victims are USDT, usually on BNB Smart Chain (BSC) or TRON. If your USDT, USDC or ETH was taken, this was not your fault – these are industrial criminal operations built to fool anyone. Your tokens left a public trail, and this page shows how we follow it.
Can stolen USDT be frozen or recovered?
Yes – stolen USDT can sometimes be frozen. Tether, the issuer, can blacklist the addresses holding stolen USDT when presented with strong forensic evidence, which stops the funds from moving while recovery is pursued. The freeze only works if the trail is documented before the thief swaps or bridges the tokens.
Why recovery is possible
- Issuers keep control. Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC) can block their tokens at specific addresses.
- Token trails are public. Transfers on BSC, TRON and Ethereum are permanently recorded and traceable.
- Exchanges are the exit. Thieves usually cash out through regulated platforms, where freezes and court orders apply.
What to do now
- Save every transaction ID and the addresses your tokens went to, with the network used.
- Report the theft to your local police and the FBI's IC3.
- Request a free forensic case review before the tokens are swapped onward.
Stablecoin theft explained: USDT and USDC on BSC, TRON and Ethereum
Scammers love stablecoins. USDT holds a steady dollar value, moves in seconds, and runs on many blockchains, which makes it the default currency of fraud. In our own case files, most stolen funds are USDT.
The same USDT exists on different networks.
ERC-20
On Ethereum it moves as an ERC-20 token.
BEP-20
On BNB Smart Chain (BSC) it moves as BEP-20 – the version we see most often, typically drained through dozens of continuous transfers.
TRC-20
On TRON it moves as TRC-20, a favourite for cash-outs because transfers are fast and cheap.
The network changes; the tracing principle holds: every transfer is publicly recorded.
Most stablecoin thefts reach us from two directions. Victims of an investment scam deposited USDT into a fake trading platform that later blocked withdrawals. Others signed a malicious approval on a phishing site and watched a drained wallet empty in seconds. Either way, the tokens went somewhere, and that somewhere is on the record.
Can stolen USDT (Tether) be frozen?
Yes – and this is the single biggest advantage stablecoin victims have. Tether, the company behind USDT, controls the token at the contract level. Presented with strong forensic evidence, Tether can blacklist an address, freezing the stolen USDT sitting in it. Circle can do the same with USDC. A stablecoin freeze stops the funds from moving while legal recovery is pursued.
Recoveris has achieved this in practice: our investigation led to a freeze of 1.5 million USDT after Tether blacklisted the wallets involved. A freeze is never automatic and never guaranteed. It depends on the quality of the evidence, and on reaching the tokens before they are swapped into an asset no issuer can touch. Stolen tether recovery is one stage of the wider process we use to recover stolen cryptocurrency.

"Stablecoins are the one silver lining. Issuers like Tether can freeze USDT at a specific address with the right evidence – but only if we get there before it's swapped or bridged. On BSC and TRON especially, hours count."
Recover stolen Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens
Ether (ETH) itself has no issuer, so a contract-level freeze is unavailable for ETH. The route to recover stolen Ethereum runs through tracing and exchanges instead. Every ETH and ERC-20 transfer sits on a transparent ledger. We follow the funds through wallets, swap services (DEXs) and cross-chain bridges – tools that move tokens between blockchains. A swap changes the asset; the recorded trail continues on the other side.
Many ERC-20 thefts begin with a malicious token approval: a signature on a fake site that let a contract move your tokens. ERC-20 scam recovery then follows the standard path – trace the tokens to a regulated off-ramp, pursue a freeze, work the legal route home. Recovery is realistic when the trail reaches an exchange fast, and it is never guaranteed.
TRON and BSC routing: through exchanges and out the other side
On BSC, scam proceeds hop across long chains of fresh wallets – dozens of continuous transfers designed to exhaust anyone watching. To trace stolen crypto on BSC (BNB Chain), we cluster those wallets and follow the flow to its exit points. Victims searching how to recover stolen USDT BEP20 are almost always looking at this exact pattern.
TRON serves a different role: obscuring the trail. A common route in our cases sends funds into a major exchange and immediately withdraws them on TRON as TRC-20 USDT, breaking the visible chain across networks. To trace stolen USDT on TRON, we pick the trail back up on the other side – the exchange's records connect the deposit to the withdrawal, and the TRON ledger shows every hop after it.
Solana (Phantom) and other chains
The same principles cover Solana. Victims reach us after a Phantom wallet was drained by a phishing site or a fake approval, and the Solana ledger records exactly where the tokens went. To recover stolen Solana tokens, we trace them to the exchange or bridge where they exit.
Other chains follow the same logic – our case files include XRP taken from hacked hot wallets and HBAR phished through fake staking sites. If the thief took stolen Bitcoin instead, its own page covers BTC tracing. Where the funds went matters far more than which chain they were on.
Recovering stolen crypto from Binance and other exchanges
In many of our cases, Binance – a regulated exchange – is where stolen funds finally surface. For a victim, that is good news. Once your tokens sit in an exchange account, that account can be frozen, and the exchange's records can identify its holder.
Can you recover stolen crypto from Binance? Yes, sometimes – with the right process. The exchange needs solid forensic evidence, and often a law-enforcement request or court order, before it acts. That is our role: we prepare the court-admissible report, reach the compliance team through the VerifyVASP network of 190+ providers, and coordinate the freeze while the funds are still there. Speed decides whether they still are.

If someone contacts you first, claiming your USDT has been "located" and a fee will release it, that is a second scam. A legitimate firm never guarantees recovery and never asks for money to unlock "found" funds.
