Funds that move into custodial exchanges or regulated VASPs are recoverable far more often than funds that stay in self-custodied wallets or pass through non-cooperative jurisdictions.

We trace the funds across chains and mixers, identify the receiving VASPs or wallet clusters, file freeze requests through our network of 150+ VASPs, coordinate with applicable law enforcement, and prepare the documentation needed for civil or criminal legal action. The recovery itself is executed by VASPs, courts, or law enforcement. Our role is the forensic, coordination, and evidentiary backbone behind it.

Yes. Like law firms and licensed investigators, legitimate recovery firms charge a professional fee. Tracing assets on-chain, packaging evidence, coordinating with exchanges and law enforcement, and producing court-grade reports is technical, time-intensive work, and no serious firm does it for free.

At Recoveris, the initial case review is free and is how we determine whether recovery is viable. We’re transparent about which cases we believe are recoverable and which aren’t before any engagement starts. If you decide to proceed with a full investigation, you receive a written proposal first, with scope and fee defined upfront. The invoice comes from Recoveris AG in Switzerland.

Speed matters. The first 24 to 72 hours are when funds are most likely to still be sitting at a VASP that can freeze them. But cases that come to us weeks, months, or even years after the theft are still worth a forensic review. Funds often resurface at exchanges or counterparties long after the original incident, statutes of limitation vary by jurisdiction, and the on-chain record doesn’t degrade with time. We’ve worked successful recoveries on cases that were already cold by the time the client found us.
